Zubin Austin, BScPhm, MBA, MISc, PHD, FCAHS (professor and the Koffler Chair in Management at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation – Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto) visited Washington University on March 6, 2020. Austin delivered The Daniel Bisno Ethics in Medicine Lecture to the School of Medicine (See flyer for more information) titled, “If ‘Competence’ is the Answer, Have We Asked the Right Question?” The event took place from 12pm-1pm in the Bernard Becker Medical Library King Center on the Washington University in St. Louis medical campus. A catered lunch was provided.

Gloria A. Wilder, MD, MPH (CEO, Core Health & VP, Innovation and Preventive Health, Centene Corporation) visited Washington University on March 9, 2018. David J. Doukas, MDDavid J. Doukas, MD, of the University of Louisville, visited Washington University on March 31, 2017. Doukas delivered The Daniel Bisno Ethics in Medicine Lecture to the School of Medicine (See flyer for more information). Dr. Doukas’ talk was titled, “Catalyzing Transformation in Residency Education: Through and Towards Professionalism.” The event took place from 12pm-1pm in the McDonnell Science Building Erlanger Auditorium on the Washington University in St. Louis medical campus. Arthur W. Frank, PhDArthur Frank, PhD, author of The Wounded Storyteller: Body, Illness, and Ethics, visited Washington University on September 23, 2016. Frank delivered The Daniel Bisno Ethics in Medicine Lecture to the School of Medicine (See flyer for more information). Dr. Frank’s talk was titled, “The Remoralization of Illness.” The event took place from 9am-10am in Cori Auditorium on the Washington University in St. Louis medical campus. A continental breakfast was provided.

Dr. Frank also led a Train-the-Trainer workshop teaching medical ethics with narrative for members of the Interdisciplinary Bioethics Network.
