Julia Ciurria, MB, BCh, BAO is a clinical fellow in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis/St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She completed her medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and her pediatric residency at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. Her fellowship research uses qualitative methods to investigate communication with families of children with medical complexity during emergency care. This is part of her long-term goal of developing a more comprehensive understanding of high-quality emergency care for children with medical complexity, including developing metrics of care and family-driven protocols.
